Abu Dhabi International Airport is a world class modern airport. The airport code is AUH.
It currently has 3 terminals and there is a multi billion dollar Midfield Terminal Complex in development. There is a free shuttle running every 15 minutes between the airport terminals.
Does Abu Dhabi Airport have free wi-fi? Yes it does! Free wi-fi is available throughout the terminals. If you are traveling with a laptop or mobile device you can connect by simply locating the ADAC Free Wireless Network and accept the terms to connect. There are also 50 internet kiosks located around the terminals offering free internet access.
You can also do a bit of shopping here. There are plenty of book shops and souvenir shops. Terminals 1 & 3 have duty free shops.
If you are looking for a hotel near AUH airport, there are several to choose from. It is at least a half hour drive into the city center (longer if there is traffic).
So your best bet is to stay at one of the Abu Dhabi international airport hotels on Yas Island especially if you are just on a brief stopover.
There is also an in transit hotel. It is quite pricey and offers only basic accommodations, but if you only have a few hours layover and just want a place to sleep then you won't even need to pass through passport control!

Terminal 1: Al Reem Lounge has a hot and cold buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as serving snacks. Vegetarian options available. The lounge has free wi-fi and laptops can be borrowed. They have flat screen tv's with satellite, newspapers and magazines. You can freshen up with their shower facilities. Walk-in access is 140AED for 4 hours. A great way to relax at the airport!
Terminal 1: Al Dhabi Lounge offers a buffet service and snacks 24 hours a day. They offer free wi-fi, laptop loans, and work stations. This is a great one for families as there is a separate kids play area. They have flat screen tvs with individual headsets. Premium shower facilities included. Walk in access 180 AED for 4 hours.
Terminal 2: Al Ghazal Lounge offers a hot and cold buffet, free
wi-fi, internet kiosks, flat screen tv's with satellite, newspapers and
magazines. Shower facilities included. Walk-in rates is 100AED for 4
There is a free playground designed for toddlers and young children (under 6) where they can burn off some excess energy before your flight. It is located in Terminal 3 at Gate 32. If you are traveling with a baby there are also breastfeeding rooms and change areas here. There are also play areas for older kids with bicycles, internet access, tvs, arts and crafts and computer games.
Al Dhabi Lounge has a play area for kids (180 AED for 4 hours).

Taxis are readily available. You can catch a metered taxi from outside Terminal 1 and 2. If you land at Terminal 3 it is a short walk to Terminal 1. Taxis are approximately 70-80 AED to the city center and takes about 30 minutes (up to an hour during high traffic). Yas Island is 10 minutes drive away and taxi fares are 40-60 AED.
Public buses run 24 hours a day to and from the airport into the city. The bus route is 901 (green bus) and stops at all 3 terminals. It runs approximately every 40 minutes. One way fare is 3AED payable with exact fare on the bus. It takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to reach the city center. You can change buses at the Intercity Bus Station to reach other areas of the city (City buses run from between 5 am and 2 am Cost 1AED).
