Abu Dhabi exhibitions abound. Over the pass few years, it is slowly being altered to become one of the leading cities for exhibitions and conventions. They have worked hard to build up their reputation as "the place" to go for get-togethers. They have focused on cultural and business to bring in the visitors to use their facilities.
Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC)
Opened in 2007, it's the one building that finally surpassed the largest convention center in the world. It's modern facilities out match anything in the Middle East and around the globe. Every year, they host a series of events and exhibitions and finally won the Construction Week’s 2008 “Project of the Year” Award. The International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) The largest platform for land, air, and sea military defenses from the beginning of it's opening in 2000. It is now the largest in the Middle East.
Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) Anything pertaining to products, development, and data concerned with the oil and gas industry. Once again, one of the largest facilities with 4 day events, twice a year.
Petroleum Exhibition: More like a museum than an exhibition, the Petroleum Exhibition houses a permanent display of photographs and interactive designs that follow the 'black gold' time of the area. It has truly transformed Abu Dhabi. Address: The Corniche, near the fire station.
Opened in 1981, Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation is located in the area known as Qasr al-Hosn Palace. It is the center of learning and art in this city. They present lectures, concerts, movies, art displays, and many workshop for those who want to learn about the Arts and Culture. Abu Dhabi National Library is also located here.
Women’s Handicraft Center:
Abu Dhabi has brought women into modern society with the Women’s Handicraft Center. Focused on local artists who work with silver thread and weaving, hand made clothes, crafts, Arabic oils and incense as well as the art of henna body painting can be found here. You'll have to adhere to local customs when entering this domain for women by removing your shoe before entering each hut. Photography is restricted
